Malcolm X was born Malcolm Little on May 19, 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska. His mother Louise Norton Little, was a homemaker occupied with the family’s eight children. His father, Earl Little Baptist minister and avid supporter of Black Nationalist leader Marcus Garvey.
In the early 1960’s Malcolm was invited to attend some debates also some radio stations, television programs, and Universities. Malcolm x encouraged blacks to fight back . He believed that blacks should form a new society. By 1963 Malcolm X was the second most popular civil rights activist in the United States. On June 1963 Malcolm lead the unity rally in Harlem. Before he was a political activist, Malcolm X spent several years incarcerated for a series of robberies. While he was in prison he joined the Black Nationalist religious group. Malcolm x dies February 21, 1965. He was shot to death at one of his rally’s. Malcolm X will be remembered for because he was the most influential African American leader of the 20th Century.
